This is one from a while ago, when I went to visit Florist in the Forest, aka Katherine. I had a lovely morning back in the summer, chatting, picking flowers from Katherine’s beautiful garden and of course taking a few photos! This is what we chatted about…
So, how long have you been a florist?
I have been a florist for nearly 8 years now. I started Florist in the Forest 3 years ago after working in a local shop. It has been so exciting to see the business grow and was over the moon to be awarded The Best Wedding Florist for London and the South east in the Wedding Industry Awards.
What got you started on the path to building you floristry business?
I have always had a creative background having been to Art college and also a degree in Textile Design. I then went on to be a visual merchandiser in the fashion industry. However after a number of years living on trains travelling around the North West I decided it was time for a change and moved back South and headed back to college. I am a country girl at heart and grew up with a green fingered family, so a love of flowers was already there! Now I get to combine all the creative aspects of colour, texture and shape with nature, perfect!
What is your main source of inspiration?
Inspiration comes from everywhere and anywhere. My style is very natural so I tend to let the flowers and nature inspire me. I’m always looking at combinations in gardens and nature.
Katherine is an all-round lovely lady, and super talented, she covers all over the South East for weddings, covering Kent Sussex and into Surrey. Please do take a look at her website here…http://www.floristintheforest.co.uk
